The
Event A 5-kilometer (3.1
miles) women’s walking/running event. Women of all fitness levels are
encouraged to lace up and join the fun. The Place Lehigh Parkway,
Allentown, Pennsylvania – RAIN OR SHINE. Transportation will be available to
take participatns and volunteers to and from the race. It is strongly
recommended to use this transportation because of the limited parking at
Lehigh Parkway. The Idea We will be entering a
Penn State Lehigh Valley campus contingent in the event. FEMALE students,
faculty, and staff are welcome to participate. MEN are encouraged to come and
help with refreshment stations, to cheer on women participants from the
Lehigh Valley campus, and to assist the Lehigh Valley Road Runners with race
activities! The Goal To raise money for
breast cancer prevention and treatment in the Lehigh Valley and encourage
women to participate in activities that will enhance their physical, mental,
and emotional well-being. In the past, these contributions have been used to
fund vital programs in the prevention and treatment of breast cancer,
including research at St. Luke’s Hospital and the Lehigh Valley Health
Network’s breast cancer awareness activities. All of the money contributed is spent here in the Lehigh Valley. Sign Up The registration fee ($36.50) has been waived. Participants are asked to raise a minimum of $36.50 in pledges in lieu of the registration fee. As such, each participant should pick up a registration form and pledge sheet from Student Affairs in room 214 or contact Cindy Nguyen (ctn109@psu.edu). Last year, Penn
State Lehigh Valley raised a total of $3,500. Since 1995, the campus team has
raised over $45,000.
