Penn State/CareerLink
Academic Enrichment &
Employment Training Program

Program

The Penn State Lehigh Valley/CareerLink AEETP Program provides the tools for high school students from diverse social and economic backgrounds to succeed in school and to get a head start on career goals.

The program was designed to:

  • Provide career exploration and work experience
  • Develop writing, reading, math, and critical thinking skills
  • Encourage an interest in science and technology through hands-on learning experiences
  • Instill hope for the future among young people who struggle to achieve success in education
  • Make higher education accessible to youth who have limited economic resources

Summer science class

The program requires a high degree of commitment from the students who participate. During the summer, students attend four weeks of academic enrichment activites at Penn State Lehigh Valley, and participate in a four-week work component at various sites in the Lehigh Valley. Throughout the school year, the students return to the campus for a series of day-long Saturday instructional programs.
