A Teacher, Carol
Burnt-Out Teacher Rediscovers Her Spirit
By Ricki Stein, Heather Harlen, Vicky Lynott, and Audrey Nolte

Carol Cosgroe's weekend begins with the usual humorless exhaustion after a trying week at school. Her teaching voice, once creative and inspiration, warbles off-pitch. She's confused by a lack of response to the lessons that worked so well in the past. Convinced it's the students who need an attitude adjustment, Carol begins her Friday unhappy hour of correcting papers; however, some unexpected guests shake up her night when they remind her of what was, what is and what can be. A Teacher, Carol speaks to all teachers. The question is: are you happy with your path or will you take action to make a difference?

Based on the template of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, this is a short, fast-paced read for busy teachers desiring inspiration as well as practical teaching strategies. A team of Lehigh Valley Writing Project fellows designed this book to help others to write and to use writing to learn in all content areas. Appendix includes lively lesson plans for teachers to apply immediately to enhance their classroom practice.
