Campers will learn principles of how rockets work as well as how to design and build model rockets. Campers will acquire the skills to build their own rockets from inexpensive materials. Over the two weeks of camp, we will build a water-powered rocket and launcher as well as two solid fuel rockets. The camp will culminate in launching the rockets at a site on the Penn State campus.
This camp is for students entering grades 7-9.
Instructor: Hal Scholz
Dr. Scholz has 26 years of experience in industry designing integrated circuits. He currently is a professor of physics and engineering at Penn State Lehigh Valley. He teaches Introductory Engineering using Lego Robots. He has enjoyed many years of model rocketry experience, including rocketry classes taught at a local high school, for the Girl Scouts, and for 4H Clubs.
