School Based Family Literacy Initiative

The Lehigh Valley Writing Project offers teachers numerous opportunities for professional development and advancement. In 2004, a committee was formed to create program-offerings related to family literacy. The goals of this committee are as follows:

  • To implement family literacy workshops in order to address the unique and evolving educational needs of diverse populations.
  • To familiarize parents with Pennsylvania’s Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking standards.
  • To guide parents through the steps of the writing process so that they may support their school-aged children confidently.

The LVWP offers a series of Family Literacy Workshops for area schools and districts.
