Program Offerings

The Lehigh Valley Writing Project (LVWP) has enjoyed a long history as a local site of the National Writing Project (NWP), which was established at the University of California at Berkeley in 1973. LVWP is located at Penn State Lehigh Valley's Corporate Learning Center in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Over 400 teachers have participated in our Summer Writing Institute and other professional development programs since 1989.writing group

Mission & Vision: The mission of LVWP is to establish communities of teacher writers of all disciplines and all levels. We commit to practicing and teaching writing as well as nurturing professional growth, ultimately creating communities of student writers.

By 2008, LVWP will take a leadership role in the teaching of writing among school communities by strengthening and supporting literacy across the curriculum.

Professional Development: For 30 years the National Writing Project has provided research-based, high quality professional development for teachers and has been catalogued as a Comprehensive School Reform provider under Title I. Programs presented by the Lehigh Valley Writing Project are approved for No Child Left Behind. We specialize in helping teachers link theory to practice and practice to standards and assessment.

The Lehigh Valley Writing Project is committed to offering professional development that supports and enhances the literacy lives of all stakeholders in our learning communities.
