Technology
Workshops

The LVWP Technology Committee offers a series of workshops on using technology in teaching and writing. The series currently includes 4 workshops which are offered with ACT 48 credit. We will be offering these workshops in May of 2009 at the Corporate Learning Center. To register print, complete and send in the registration form. Lunch will be provided to everyone who participates in both the morning and afternoon workshops on the same Saturday.

In addition to offering these workshops directly to teachers, we can adapt workshops for districts, schools and teacher organizations. If you have any questions contact contact our Technology Liaison, Donna Bragg.

Saturday, May 9, 2008, 9-11 AM - Writing for Self-Expression – will focus on podcasting and videocasting.  These projects can be published for a larger audience, for the classroom or used for individual learning.  They can incorporate images, music and personal voices.

Saturday, May 9, 2008, 12 Noon-2 PM - Rich, Collaborative Information – will focus on the use of blogs and aggregators. One of the keys to this kind of writing is having a real audience that reads your writing and helps you find what you want to read.  Aggregators allow you to manage what you are reading efficiently. Go from random surfing to organized reading of web content.

Saturday, May 16, 2008, 9-11 AM - Digital Storytelling – will focus on creating storyboards and using still images, video, voice recording and sound effects to bring your story to life using Windows Movie Maker and other programs.

Saturday, May 16, 2008, 12 Noon-2 PM - Collaborative Writing Tools – will focus on wikis, Google Documents and Zoho Writer.  These online tools allow groups to edit a single document and to comment on each others work.  Additionally, they allow individuals to securely store works in progress online and work on them wherever they have Internet access.
