Workshops

The LVWP Technology Committee offers a series of workshops on using technology in teaching and writing. The series currently include 3 workshops. In the Spring of 2008 these workshops will be offered with ACT 48 credit. To register complete the form below or contact our Technology Liaison, Donna Bragg.

In addition to offering these workshops directly to teachers, we can adapt worshops for disctricts, schools and teacher organizations.

Monday April 14, 2008 - Collaborative Writing Tools. This workshop works primarily with Google Docs and wikis. These online tools allow a group people to edit a single document, comment on each others work and have a complete history of every revision made to the document. Additionally, they allow individuals to securely store works in progress online and work on them where ever they have internet access.

Monday April 28, 2008 - Rich Interactive Information. This workshop focuses primarily on Blogs and RSS. These tools can be helpful in professional development and as a creative method for engaging students in the writing process. One of the keys to on-line writing is having a real audience that reads and responds to your writing.  Aggregators allow you to manage what you are reading be it others blogs or news feeds.

Monday May 12, 2008 - Writing for Self Expression. This workshop is an an introduction to podcasting and videocasting. These projects can be published for a larger audience and incorporate digital images, copyright free music and personal voices. Participants will learn about different ways these tools are used in education and some of the basic tools used in their production production.
