Penn State Lehigh Valley Campus Facts

Penn State Lehigh Valley is committed to community service.

Faculty, staff, and students continually participate in community activities and fundraising.

Community Service Committee

The purpose of Penn State Lehigh Valley's Community Service Committee is to get involved in our community and to lend a helping hand when needed.  This committee promises to bring a smile to a disheartened mother, a book to a young needy child, or a commitment of spirit to overcome breast cancer in the Lehigh Valley.  It's not just a committee but our umbrella of hope.

Below is are links to some of our annual commitments. There is contact information under each link.

It's time to get hopping.

Operation Easter BasketThe Penn State Lehigh Valley Community Service Committee sponsors "Operation Easter Basket," where faculty, staff and friends of Penn State Lehigh Valley adopt a foster child by filling an Easter basket with small age-appropriate gifts and Easter candy. The baskets are delivered to Pinebrook Services in Allentown.

Founded in 1979, Pinebrook Services is a private, not-for-profit children's services agency serving over 600 children in foster care. The majority of these children are suffering from abuse and neglect, homelessness and domestic violence.

First name, age and gender of children will be supplied for Easter-time adoption. Wrap your basket, container, or plastic bucket securely with cellophane, attach your name tag and take to Word Processing, Room 116, no later than Friday, March 15.

Thanksgiving Food Drive

Every year, over 16 clubs and organizations come together to provide approximately 40 complete Turkey dinners for families in need from the Lehigh Valley Region.

They collect all the fix'ns - Turkey, cranberry sauce, vegetables, juice, stuffing, potatoes, and of course pumpkin pies.

This activity provides the students an opportunity to come together to support a good cause. This past year, the students also collected additional canned goods and spare change which was donated to the Ecumenical Food Bank.
