Undergraduate Upper Division / Graduate: Biology 497 (4 credits)*

Pre-trip - Complete all reading and Web site assignments.

Trip - Maintain a daily journal; attend all programs/presentations/panels and round-table discussions; carry-out a group research project on water quallity at Lake Taihu, Wuxi, China (design, implement, interpret, and present research); partake in all field-based research and cultural activities; and, give a formal oral presentation using Powerpoint on your group’s research findings on the water quality of Lake Taihu.

Post-trip - Submit selected journal entries; submit group research Powerpoint on Lake Taihu’s water quality; complete final post-trip questions and reflections.

* Prerequisite for agriculture majors: Any 3-credit course with an international focus or significant international component (subject to instructor approval).

* Prerequisite for science-related majors: Must be qualified for entrance to major by May 2011.

* Prerequisite for business majors: Economics 002 and Economics 004, 6 additional credits of business, and at least fifth semester standing.

* Prerequisite for earth and mineral science majors: Any 3-credit course with a substantial international focus or significant international component, subject to instructor approval; courses with a human-environment focus are particularly applicable (e.g., GEOG 30, GEOG 123).
