Simple Automatic Citation Generators
Enter the info, get the citation
- NoodleBib Express - Begin by choosing MLA or APA, then select a citation type (e.g. book, journal article, website).
- EasyBib MLA (No free APA version is available)
- SourceAid has a nice, easy interface with MLA, APA, Chicago, and CSE styles.
- Citation Machine - ditto
- OttoBib - Get a citation using an ISBN # from any book.
Bibliographic Organizers
Collect and manage sources as you research, then format to MLA, APA, etc. Some organizers let you export citations to Word or WordPerfect documents.
- Zotero - This amazing free Firefox plug-in lets you click as you search to add citation information for websites, articles from online subscription databases like ProQuest, books from The CAT, and more. When you have everything, just ask to format to MLA, APA, etc. Add FireFox with Zotero to a flash/USB/thumb drive if you use more than one computer.
- Biblioscape Express - This freeware version with can be run from a USB (flash) drive, so you can continue to add citations from any computer.
- BibDesk is a MAC bibliography manager that works well with TeXm.
