Circulation and Reserves

Penn State faculty, staff and students and residents of Pennsylvania are welcome to use the library. All students must show their current Penn State ID card before any materials may be borrowed.

Pennsylvania residents who would like to borrow campus materials must register at the Circulation Desk with a photo ID. A University Libraries Borrower's Card will be issued free of charge. The replacement fee for a lost borrower's card is $5.00.

All loaned materials are subject to recall as described in the University Libraries Lending Code. Reserves have a limited loan period and are subject to hourly overdue fines.

Reserves

Instructors may place any type of material on reserve in the library for their students to use. These materials are kept behind the Circulation Desk. Ask for them by course name and number.

The loan period for reserve materials varies and is determined by the instructor. Most reserve items are for library use only and cannot be taken out of the library.

Two-hour and overnight Reserves are subject to a fine of $1/hour, to a maximum of $100. These fines begin to accrue the moment the material is due back in the Libraries.

After 10 days, the Libraries presume the material is lost and bill the borrower the cost of the item, a $25 processing fee, plus the overdue fees.
