Video Contest

ELIGIBILITY:

The PSLV Library Video Contest is open only to currently enrolled Penn State Lehigh Valley students. By participating, entrants agree to be bound by the terms and conditions of the contest.

CONTEST RULES:

Each participant or team may submit up to two (2) entries. Submissions must be received by 8 p.m., December 4th, 2009. Late entries will not be accepted. All submissions must be the original work of the student(s).

HOW TO ENTER:

See Judy Sandt in Room 218, PSLV Center Valley campus for the registration form. Completed forms and videos should be submitted on CD or DVD to a library staff member in the library by 8 p.m., December 4th, 2009.

VIDEO CRITERIA:

All videos must:

  1. Cover the ten reasons to love your library listed on the handout..
  2. Be submitted in avi, mov, mpg or wmv format.
  3. Include content suitable for classroom environments.
  4. Be less than 5 minutes in length.

Videos will be judged on the following criteria:

  1. Creativity
  2. Message clarity and relevance
  3. Overall impact
  4. Production quality

Keep in mind that the main audience for the video will be college students. Here are some examples of videos created for library instruction and promotion:

RESOURCES:

Equipment, software, and assistance are all available in the Digital Commons, room 203. Videos created on personal equipment are welcome as well. However, video taken using a cell phone is generally not of adequate quality for this project, since the winning video may be projected on a typical classroom screen. Questions related to content, format, etc., may be directed to Judy Sandt, room 218, jsandt@psu.edu.

WINNING ENTRY:

The winning entrant will be notified by email. A $100 gift certificate to the Barnes & Noble Bookstore will be awarded to the winner, or, in the case of a team entry, be shared by the entrants.

VIDEO RIGHTS AND USAGE:

All submitted videos may be used by Penn State Lehigh Valley for instructional or promotional purposes with attribution. Videos may be edited by PSLV as needed.
