FINDING FILMS, BOOKS, & SCREENPLAYS
- The CAT is Penn State's online catalog. View Details and then use the I Want It button to order items from other Penn State campuses. Videos generally may be borrowed for one week with one renewal.
Tip: To limit the search to films, choose Advanced Search from the right side of the search page and limit Material Type to Video Material.
- WorldCat (OCLC) is a catalog of library holdings from across the country. If Penn State owns an item, link to the CAT to borrow it. If not, click Request Item via ILL to request it from a non-Penn State library.
FINDING ARTICLES, REVIEWS, & CRITICAL ANALYSIS
- ProQuest Research Library indexes 5,000+ magazines, journals, and newspapers.
Tip: To locate a review, use the drop-down menu for Document Type and choose Reviews. It may help to limit the date to one close to the release of the film. For information about a director or actor, enter the name in the Person search box.

- International Index to the Performing Arts includes articles related to all aspects of the performing arts from more than 210 international journals.

- LexisNexis Academic Universe offers access to reviews in newspaper articles and major radio and television news and discussion programs.

- Film and Television Literature Index (1987-to date) covers writings about film and tv theory, preservation and restoration; writing, production, cinematography; and reviews. Publications include Film Journal International, Journal of British Cinema & Television, Film Criticism, Post Script, Variety, and more as well as technical publications such as SMPTE and international publications such as Cahiers du Cinema, Filmihullu, SegnoCinema, and Kinetoscopio.

- Film Literature Index (1976-2001) contains over 700,000 citations to articles and reviews published between 1976-2001 from 50 film and television magazines and journals from 30 countries and 200 other periodicals.

- Metacritic is a website that compiles reviews by many of the most respected critics in the media.
