To
request an item from another Penn State location:
|
1.
|
At
the "Single Item Display" screen on The
Cat (the full description for the item you want),
click the I Want It button near the top of
the screen.  |
|
2.
|
Complete
the authentication process by entering
your Access User ID and Password. Once you have entered
this information, click on the Submit button.
|
|
3.
|
Select
Penn State Lehigh Valley from the drop down
list that follows the "Please choose a pickup
location:" prompt. |
|
4.
|
If
the material you are requesting has more than one
volume or part, you must check off each piece you
would like to borrow on the list provided. |
|
5.
|
Click
on the Place Hold button to complete request. |
|
6.
|
You
will receive an email notification when the requested
item has arrived at Lehigh Valley. |
|
|
To
request an item not owned by Penn State:
|
1.
|
In
order to borrow any material from a non Penn State
location, you must first complete your ILLIAD
registration.
|
|
2.
|
The
following Request It and Go databases may be
searched to locate and order items not owned by Penn
State.
If
you locate an item you would like to borrow, you
can initiate an interlibrary loan request directly
through the above databases. A copy of the request
will automatically be transmitted to your ILLIAD
account.
You will
be sent an email notification when the requested
item has been received at University Park. Allow
3-5 working days for the item to reach Lehigh Valley.
You may call the library at 610-285-5027 to check
if an item has arrived.
Your
ILLIAD account allows you to monitor the progress
of all current requests and submit renewal requests
on items you've received.

If
you are unable to locate an item in any of the above
databases, you may submit a loan
request via ILLIAD.
|
|
|
To
request journal or magazine articles:
The fastest method is to check if the journal or newspaper
you need is available
online or owned by Lehigh Valley (check
the CAT).
If it is not, you may:

place
a copy request via ILLIAD
|
| or |
print
out the article's citation, print your name and Access
ID at the top of the page and submit it to a staff
member at the Circulation desk. |
You
will be notified by email when your ILLIAD requests are
available. If you did not place your article requests
via ILLIAD, please stop by the Circulation desk or call
610-285-5027 to check if your article has arrived.

ILLIAD Registration:

Go
to https://ill.libraries.psu.edu
(Note: this is a secure site - you
must include the https:// at the front of this address.)

| 2. |
Enter
your Penn States Access ID and password, then click
on the Logon to ILLIAD button.

| 3.
|
Enter
the required personal information then click on the
Submit Information button.
|
| 4.
|
That's
all there is to it. You only have to register on ILLIAD
once. The next time you logon to ILLIAD you will be
taken right to the Main Menu screen. |

Placing
an ILLIAD Loan Request:
Use the following
procedure to request the loan of an entire work. Examples
include books, entire conference proceedings, and loans
of microfilm reels, microfiche and A/V materials.

Go
to https://ill.libraries.psu.edu
(Note: this is a secure site - you
must include the https:// at the front of this address.)

2.
|
Enter
your Penn States Access ID and password, then click
on the Logon to ILLIAD button.
|
|
3.
|
On
the Main Menu screen
click on the Request a Book button.
|
|
4.
|
Fill
in all the required fields and as many other fields
as you can, then click on the Submit Request
button. Be
as thorough and specific as possible. This will
speed processing and increase the probability of
locating an item.

5.
|
You will
be sent an email notification when the requested
item has been received at University Park. Allow
3-5 working days for the item to reach Lehigh Valley.
You may call the library at 610-285-5027 to check
if an item has arrived.
Your
ILLIAD account allows you to monitor the progress

an ILLIAD Copy Request:
Use the following
procedure to request a photocopy of an article that is
within a larger work. Examples include an article within
a journal, a paper within a conference proceedings, or
a single chapter within an anthology.

must include the https:// at the front of this address.)

Enter
your Penn States Access ID and password, then click
on the Logon to ILLIAD button.

| 3.
|
On
the Main Menu screen
click on the Request a Photocopy button.
|
| 4.
|
Fill
in all the required fields and as many other fields
as you can, then click on the Submit Request
button. Be as thorough and specific as possible.

of locating an article.

You will
be sent an email notification when the requested
article is available for viewing. Log into ILLIAD
(see 1 & 2) then scroll down to the Review
Requests section and click on the View/Download
Electronically Received Articles button.
Your
ILLIAD account allows you to view, download or print
these articles. Articles remain on the web server
for 30 days.
